Lambton Wildlife Inc. needs volunteers to begin site preparation for planting native plants at Mandaumin Woods Nature Reserve. Date: November 4, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. Please wear long pants, work gloves, closed toed shoes, and bring your own mask to wear in the event that social distancing is not possible. We will be removing small brush with loppers (branch pruners) and picking up garbage. On October 18, 2020, fifteen volunteers from Lambton Wildlife Inc. braved the rain to plant native Carolinian trees at Mandaumin Woods Nature Reserve. These ecologically valuable trees, purchased with funds provided by Enbridge, will support many birds, butterflies, moths, and other native wildlife. A big thank you goes out to Enbridge for their support of Lambton Wildlife Inc.  Roberta Buchanan, property manager for Mandaumin Woods Nature Reserve, welcomed the volunteers and introduced Larry Cornelis who explained why it is important to plant trees at the reserve. Lambton Wildlife Inc. is pleased to announce that we are re-opening both the Mandaumin Woods Nature Reserve and the Karner Blue Sanctuary for hiking. With many parks reopening we feel it's appropriate to open our trails too. Please continue to observe physical distancing guidelines when visiting LWI trails and follow the signs for direction of travel so that you do not have to step off the trail to pass oncoming hikers.

Habitat Fund Grant Recipients

Lambton Wildlife Habitat Fund distributed nearly $10,000 to projects throughout Lambton County during 2019! North Lambton Secondary Students partnered with Lambton Trails Shores Committee to plant 24 native trees in the Nature Conservancy Canada property at the Ipperwash Dunes and Swales. Scouts Canada planted barren dunes with Marum grass to prevent erosion and to protect sensitive habitat. Great Lakes Secondary students re-naturalized 3000 square feet of lawn into a pollinator garden (pictured below). Other projects included planting 1500 native wetland and prairie plants at the AAmjiwnaag Scott Road project, a Pollinator Garden planted at the Camlachie United Church, 23 acres…
